Remake one of my favorite summer time tops!

Okay so one of my favorite stay at home tops was getting a little small and riding up at my waist. I don't know what has happened to this top to cause it to suddenly be a little too small. but I decided to add some gray t-shirt material to the top and the bottom and some t-shirt flowers.

You can see my cat's tail in one of the pictures. She was trying to get her WHOLE self in the picture. I love it.

If you look closely you'll see my irregular stitching. I have been watching too much Project Runway and think I can sew. Oh well. Practice makes perfect.

I am using the sewing machine my mother in law purchased from Sears for me when I was pregnant with our first child, Jesse James. He'll be 30 on October 9th. The machine works like a charm. It is my sewing that is irregular!!!

Scrapbook Pages

This is only half of what I accomplished this week end. Next I have to re-sort photos and school work for the school days portions of our lives. Wish me luck. It does get overwhelming at times, but I just tell myself to keep plowing through. Hope you are plowing through this week all right. Drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the heat!! b.

Awake Early

Well I have two cats, actually I have three cats, but only two are giving me trouble. They both want to be my number one cat. So there was a big cat fight on the bed at 6:30 this morning as they tried to beat each other up to see who was going to get to sleep with me. So now I am up and they are both sleeping in their corners. They fight over who gets to sit or lay with me and when I am up they are content to leave each other be and take a nap.

Anyway---- I'll just get to start scrapbooking earlier than I had planned!! Above are some recent projects.

Have a great weekend!

First Day of School Scrapbook Page

Lots and lots to love about this layout. Each picture has a great story to tell and collectively they are quite the tale. I dreamed about making these 'first day of school' pictures into something special beginning back in 1983. Of course 17 years later I can only put my hands on 6 of the pictures. I enjoyed using my Cricut machine to cut out the school bus, the backpacks and the lettering. The lettering is from the George Cartridge, the school bus from Stretch My Imagination and the backpacks and apple from Doodle Charms.

New Scrapbook Page

Okay there are all kinds of reasons that I like this page. These are all smiling pictures of Megan and I didn't know what to do with them so I cut them to the same size and laid them out in a grid pattern. I used some 'Basic Grey' brand paper which all coordinates and had one sheet which features Japanese lotus blossoms.

You'll notice in the picture in the middle of the grid and the lower right hand corner that Megan is wearing a Kimono. I bought that for her shortly after she was born and she wore it for 3 Halloweens before she completely out grew it. Could this have been the beginning of her love for all things Japanese?

I had the title in mind as I worked on the layout but it took me all week to figure out where to put it and how to make it stand out. I layered it using coordinating papers. It is not the smoothest of cutting jobs but I think it looks awesome.

I used two chipboard flower shapes, covered with the same papers, and then used my markers to make them look like the flowers on the paper.

All in all a very successful layout.

Back in the day....

This would be about 1985. Double stroller from Sears made of aluminum, cardboard and vinyl. Nothing like the little Cadillacs of today!!

Painted the kitchen and dining room

I painted the kitchen and dining room to match the new counter tops and the old curtains. This is temporary. I hope to make new curtains and paint the kitchen cabinets some time this year. Then I'll probably pick a different color for the wall. I only painted the one wall that flows behind the sink and continues on into the dining room. Just one wall. Looks so great. I love a freshly painted wall. It looks so fresh and clean. I'll take a picture of the kitchen portion when I get the dishes done!!
Have a great day!!

New Coffee Pot

When we got new appliances for the kitchen, all in black glass, very classy, I wanted to get a new coffee pot. We had an old white Mr. Coffee, very functional. But no longer complimentary to the new appliances.

So the new appliances sought an alliance with none other than ----Darth Vadar!!

The old coffee pot choked out a lame good bye and Darth Vadar is on board.

The Sun Is Out!!!

I don't know why I feel like the weather has been miserable for months. It probably hasn't really been miserable that long.

But today the sun is out and the temperature right now is 73 degrees. Beautiful.

Magic likes it. Instead of being curled up in a ball somewhere he is stretched out on the window sill. Who can blame him. Move over Magic!!

Mirror for Megan

I purchased an old dresser mirror at the thrift store for $5. I primed it with craft paint because I wanted to cover it with dressmaking patterns and I knew you wouldn't be able to see the patterns on the dark wood.

At first I primed it with light colors and then decided it needed a more spectacular underpainting so I added the pink. Big mistake. That pink was impossible to tone down with the decoupaged patterns!

So I toned it down with lighter paint and here it is!! I put the knobs on the top so Megan could hang her necklaces on it if she wants to. I decided not to decoupage the knobs. Good call, I don't know. We'll see. This could continue to be a work in progress.

When we get it hung at her apartment I'll take another photo so you can see it in place.

My Favorite Christian Song

One major thing i have discovered recently is that the bible is GOD'S STORY. At first I thought of the bible as the Word of God, written by God absolutely, but also I thought of it as the story of God's people. But it is really GOD'S STORY. It is all about God and who He is and what He is like. And more specifically, about His plan for His beloved, US.

This song so clearly lists how every book of the bible is about who God is. I love it. Can't hear it enough.

Aaron Jeoffrey \ He Is

In Jonah, He's the great missionary

In Micah, the promise of peace
In Nahum, He is our strength and our shield
In Habakkuk and Zephaniah, He's pleading for revival
In Haggai, He restores a lost heritage
In Zechariah, our fountain

He is, He is, HE IS!

The prince of peace
The Son of man
The Lamb of God
The great I AM

He's the alpha and omega
Our God and our Savior
He is Jesus Christ the Lord
and when time is no more
He is, HE IS!
